Volkswagen To Bring 2 Global Products To India

Both models will be launched by mid-2025; To be sold in India via the CBU route.

Volkswagen has officially confirmed that it will soon launch two new global cars in the Indian market. These models will be brought into the country via the CBU route and available in limited numbers. Targeting enthusiasts, the Golf GTI and Tiguan R Line will likely command a steep price tag.

Volkswagen Golf GTI

Expected to be priced at Rs. 52 lakh (ex-showroom), the Golf GTI will be powered by a 2.0-litre EA888 four-cylinder turbo petrol engine putting out 265 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox sending the power to the front wheels. With a top speed of 250 kmph, the Golf GTI can go from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line

The top-spec version of the latest Tiguan, which went on sale globally in 2023, the R Line, will be launched in India soon. It sports a more aggressive styling inside out and is based on the MQB EVO platform. Internationally, the Tiguan R Line is offered in multiple powertrain combinations, including a plug-in hybrid, turbo petrol and turbo diesel. In India, we expect the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine to power the SUV, producing 265 bhp, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It will also get Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
