New-Gen Renault Duster: Upcoming 4X4 SUVs In India
The Duster in its first generation got AWD in the Indian market and the upcoming 3rd gen model will follow suit. The AWD system will channel power to all four wheels and it can be turned on manually as well as set to auto mode. The AWD model will likely be powered by the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine putting out 130 bhp of maximum power. The AWD will be limited to the top-spec manual variants, prices of which can easily go above Rs. 20 lakh.
Toyota Fortuner Hybrid 4X4: Upcoming 4X4 SUVs in India
The Toyota Fortuner Hybrid has already debuted in multiple international markets and it is expected to launch in India sometime next year. The mild-hybrid version of the 7-seater SUV will be powered by the 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV diesel engine, paired with a 48V mild hybrid system. As per the company, the new Fortuner will return better fuel efficiency and smooth power delivery lower down the rev range. It will put out 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. In addition to the 2WD variants, a proper 4WD system will also be on offer with the new Fortuner.

Volkswagen Tayron: Upcoming 4X4 SUVs in India

The Volkswagen Tayron is set to go on sale next year in India. It will be sold via the CKD route and based on VW’s MQB EVO platform. The SUV will be powered by the familiar 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Internationally, the Tayron is offered in multiple powertrain options including pure petrol, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) petrol as well as diesel. The new Tayron will also get the 4WD system as standard.
