Next-Gen Tata Nexon Launch: Updated Platform, Timeline & More
Tata Nexon is based on the X1 platform which in itself is a very heavily modified version of the old Indica underpinnings. For the new-gen model, Tata Motors is expected to continue the X1 platform, however, a very heavy rework is expected to bring it to speed. Reportedly, some structural updates are expected to be a part of the package. For reference, the X1 platform got a big overhaul with the launch of Nexon Facelift in 2023.
Internally codenamed ‘Garud’, the development work on the new Nexon has already kicked-off. The Nexon will complete its 10 years in 2027 and it will be the year when the new model is expected to arrive.

Next-Gen Tata Nexon Launch: Design, Interiors & Powertrain
The new-gen Tata Nexon will likely to get a major overhaul to its exterior design and we expect to get a boxy design language this time around as compared to the current model’s curvy stance. Something on the lines of the upcoming Tata Sierra can also be expected. Inside the cabin, a new layout with more features and updated electrical architecture will be a part of the package.
The next-gen Nexon will likely carry forward the current set of powertrain options. However, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine could be skipped. This comes down to the fact that the engine will have to be updated to meet the upcoming stringent BS7 emission norms and since the diesel market share is seeing a dip in the compact SUV segment, it remains to be seen whether the Indian carmaker takes the plunge or not. It is important to note that these are just speculations and more details will be known by next year.
